Corrie was born in the Netherlands and came to the states as a young child. Her inspiration comes from the works of the old Dutch masters. Her style is mainly representational which is expressed in her paintings.
After raising four children, she began pursuing her interest in art. "I feel grateful to God, the master artist, for opening my eyes to the beauty in nature. When I start a painting, I'm not always sure where it will take me. I'm often drawn to light the way it iluminates color. Light in dark places brings about a sense of mystery and peace. When I'm painting I often feel drawn inside that place of peace that only God could have created. I believe the beauty of landscape was his gift to us. I hope to convey these feelings to others as they view my paintings."
Corrie began painting mainly in acrylics and pastel. Her most recent works are in her favorite medium, oil. She has taken numerous classes and workshops throughout the Chicagoland area. She is currently a member of Mc Cord Gallery and Cultural Center in Palos Park, IL. She also enjoys painting weekly with her "Art Connections" group comprised of eight artists working in different mediums.
Her work has been exhibited in many juried shows throughout the Midwest. Her most recent shows have included her "Art Connections" group. She has received several awards for her paintings including "Best of Show". Her work is held in private collections in many parts of the United States as well as in London.
